Brighton and Hove Albion away on Sunday 19th August, Kick-Off 16:00 and the Away Match Ballot.
Of all the games United played last season, Brighton away at the start of May was the only game I did not see live, by that I mean I wasn’t at the game or watch it live on television. I was away camping with six University friends and their families, a tradition we’ve had for many years now.
Usually if United are on whilst I’m away, it’s easy enough to find a pub for a couple of hours and watch it, it’s never normally a problem as I cannot stand missing any United games. However, with United scheduled to play Brighton at 7.45pm on a Friday night and myself and the family arriving at the campsite to set-up at 7.30pm with the light fading, it was always going to be difficult for me to disappear and watch it.
Don’t get me wrong, I listened to the game on the car radio whilst putting up a brand new tent, which had its issues let me tell you. Just like United ended up having similar issues at the Falmer Stadium as they lost 1-0 in a truly awful performance from our lads. I know that because I still watched the game back four days later, even though I was told by mates to not bother.
Anyway, when the new United fixtures for this season came out in July and I saw this fixture, I knew I had to make it. Not just because I didn’t see the game last season, because I’ve never been to the ground either. Two seasons ago I’d been to all the current Premier League grounds, however with Brighton’s promotion last season as well as both Cardiff and Wolves coming back up this season, I’m now back to three grounds I’ve not been to. Not for long though, as this time next month I’ll be on my way to Brighton after getting a ticket in the ballot:
