Sheer laziness – podcast #235

Everton 1 v Manchester United 0. Time and time again we see disappointing performances from United and Saturday lunchtime was no different. To be fair though, I knew it was coming (like a lot of fans) as soon as Burnley beat Everton earlier in the week.

Getting beat is acceptable as it’s part of football and it’s why we love the game so much, because there are no guarantees. However, sheer laziness in my book in completely and totally unacceptable and like most of this season we were at it again yesterday. No fight, no work rate, no desire at all to do all you can for yourself, your team mates and the fans.

Prime example yesterday was Everton’s goal, Wan-Bissaka plodding back with no urgency to get after Richarlison and keep him tight to the by-line with his back to the goal. Instead he gave him too much space, which allowed him to turn with no pressure and then backed off so he could wander to the edge of our box unopposed and lay it off to Gordon, who scored. Shocking!

This is just one example, I’m not picking on Wan-Bissaka specifically, but this happens time and time again every single game from numerous players and it’s not acceptable! A lot of our players need moving on as quick as possible.

Enjoy Phil’s podcasts below anyway with special guest and Everton fan Denis. Thanks.
