No highlights vs San Jose Earthquakes

United continued their latest tour of America late on Sunday night just gone (UK time), unfortunately though there are no match highlights for this game. That’s because in my opinion there was no match highlights from a very poor game of football from both sides. That’s right, it wasn’t a great watch at all, in fact it was pretty terrible as pre-season tour games go.

Of course it’s nice to get a win even though it’s not important too, but at the end of the day you’d just like to see us play some decent football. Unfortunately there was neither, not to worry, onto California #CotRoM

July 23rd – San Jose Earthquakes, Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara at 00.00am UK time

United Team: J. Pereira (Grant 46);
Valencia (c) (Darmian 8), Bailly (Tuanzebe 46), Smalling (Fosu-Mensah 46), Shaw (Mitchell 75);
Herrera, Garner (McTominay 46), A. Pereira (Gomes 83);
Chong (Mata 46), Martial, Alexis (Greenwood 65).

UNITED 0 vs SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 0

Alexis Sanchez did at least shine in this poor game and after a not too great start to his United career, lets hope this is his season as he looked sharp from the off. He could absolutely be key to our season this year as he needs to be firing on all cylinders and contributing with a lot more goals.

It was good to see youngsters James Garner, Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira get game time in the middle of the park and I do hope I’ll see more of them throughout the season. However, with Pogba, Lingard, Matic and now Fred ahead of them I’m sure they’ll only get limited appearances, although McTominay could cement a spot I suppose.

Speaking of Fred, our new fifty plus million summer signing is finally due to join up with the squad in Los Angeles later this week and I can’t wait to see him go into our midfield and get stuck in.

As for the game itself, well as mentioned there wasn’t much to talk about in the way of chances, but concerns over United’s defence at the start of the season is certainly still a talking point. Luke Shaw just doesn’t look right and must be testing Jose’s patience and a decision on his role needs to be decided soon.

Valencia has now picked up a calf injury to join Dalot on the sidelines, plus we have the likes of Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Lindelof and Rojo all still on holiday after the World Cup. Which means there could be a make shift back-line in place for the start of the season, with Daley Blind having left for Ajax as well.

July 28th – Liverpool, Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor at 10pm UK time
