MUST welcomes reclamation of the Stretford End for vocal fans

MUST WELCOMES RECLAMATION OF THE STRETFORD END

After many years of lobbying the club we finally got the news this morning that the executive seats in the Stretford End will be relocated and the process of reclaiming the Stretford End for vocal fans will become a possibility once again.

If you are on Twitter please do retweet this thread as we want to ensure we reach as wide an audience of possible (including the detractors who, it sometimes seems, hate to hear good news about the club they claim to support).

MUST welcomes the Club’s announcement that the whole of the Stretford End will be restored to traditional fans from August 2024, with Execs relocated. We have long called for this and it was a key ask in our open letter in 2018.You can read that original 2018 letter here: OPEN LETTER TO MANCHESTER UNITED – OLD TRAFFORD ATMOSPHERE & STADIUM DEVELOPMENTAlmost all of those proposals will soon have been delivered, either fully or partially, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the strategy of combining public campaigning with direct dialogue with the club.

The Stretford End is the beating heart of Old Trafford and can now become reunited in roaring the reds on, every game. This will remove the main barrier to installing rail seats (safe standing) across the whole Stretford End so we will be calling on the Club to consult supporters on this.Once that final obstacle is removed we can truly reclaim the Stretford End and recreate the fearsome atmosphere which was so diminished when stadia went all seater. Our supporter surveys have consistently told us they want MUST to work with senior club management on issues which affect fans, regardless of who the owners of the club are, and this is another tangible benefit of that strategy.

Official announcement on the Club website here.
