Short FA Cup trip to Ewood Park

Our coach was meant to leave at 1pm, but due to the police only informing all the coaches that they’ll be picking everyone up in at the services and keeping us there until they escort us in. We decided against leaving early so went for a couple of beers in the pub beforehand and then finally left at 2.15pm. It didn’t take long to get there, we were the last coach to arrive so it worked perfectly, as soon as we were we all got on the move and got up to the ground quickly via some back streets. It was pissing down and miserable but we were soon cheered up when one of the lads on the coach mistakenly referred to Jack Walker as Jim Bowen, haha brilliant. Yes, they both have Blackburn Rovers connection but come on!

I saw a few head off the pub but it didn’t look open to me so we headed to the beer tent outside the away end, there was lots of people already there and they all seemed to be drinking these giant beers just started quing straight away, wasn’t overly busy but I just thought everyone saw a bar and that was it.  After five mins, decided to go inside to find an empty bar and empty it was for at least the next half hour so the plan worked.

I was looking forward to seeing a load of tennis balls being thrown on the pitch before kick off but it wasn’t to be. There was no such protest like that from the home fans like they did against Blackpool in the last round of the cup. This was the first time we played Blackburn since April 2012 when we won 2-0, but memorable was winning the league here with a 1-1 draw back in 2011.

Young started at right back and there was a rare start up top for Rashford. Smalling now getting a run too but that man Miki was in behind Rashford and before kick off I thought he was going to be key. Good to see Romero in again and Mourinho sticking with him. Dave is great but if he did ever get injured, I’d have no issues whatsover if Sergio had to cover him, he’s always done well and kept plenty of clean sheets.

We started attacking with pace in the team from the off but unfortuantely it didn’t take long before Smalling was caught ball watching, but what a great finish from Danny Graham. Emnes did brilliantly in the build up with some great skill, although Rojo did give him too much space and they were 1-0 up.

Our cracking atmosphere came to a holt but some right idiots, probably most teenagers charging down the steps of the stand closing to us in the away, all giving it large, instead of cheering with Danny Graham who was celebrating in from of them decided to ‘charge” at us, if you can call it that. Couple of grown men hiding at the back pretending to be hard behind the youths doing the munign sign, disgraceful. Had to laught at them initially until I saw they were doing that

What a ball from Mike to Rashford and with his pace beat the defence and Steele to get his 4th Cup goal so far.

Woke up this morning feeling fine
Got Man Utd on my mind
Jose’s got us playing the way United should
Something tells me I’m into something good

It was time to get the job done, no more subs came on just after the hour mark and the sub Pogba dropped deep to half way line to take the ball of darmian, quick look up and sub Zlatan and made his run. Pogba found him, Zlatan took his time and let the ball bounce one to him and slotted home. SIX FOOT FIVE!!

Mkhitaryan scored away at St. Etienne in Europa League round of 32

After our trip to Ewood Park we had our small Europa League Round of 32 trip to Saint-Étienne. Thankfully the game was done and dusted early on when Miki scored after 16 minutes which meant we were 4-0 up. It was a great goal too, with good build up of about 11 or so passes it came out to Mata on the left, he looked and whipped a ball round the defenders and with the bend on the ball it found Miki in the middle to tap in with this studs.

Unfortuntately he may have injured himself in scoring the goal, we’re still waiting to hear but if it’s hamstring then he is definitely out of the EFL Cup Final on Sunday. Aware

Bailly first yellow I didn’t think was a card, he was slightly late but it no way was it dangerous play so when he got the second one I thought it was stupid and looking back the referee got it wrong, however Bailly should have know better not to make a challenge like that a few minutes after getting booked.
