Smalling should have hit Messi earlier - podcast 46

Manchester United 0 vs Barcelona 1. Another disappointing evening at Old Trafford last night but it was always going to be a tough ask against the soon to be La Liga Champions. There was some good displays from the likes of Fred and McTominay but other than that and maybe Smalling it was a poor show.

Especially his thumping challenge on Messi because after that the Argentine superstar didn’t do much, so maybe he should have clattered him as early as the first few minutes.

Also, there was apparently not one shot on target according OPTA, however I have to disagree because Fred’s long-range effort was certainly heading towards Marc-André ter Stegen goal until it was blocked. Not that that’s much to shout about.
