Manchester United 1 v Crystal Palace 3. Well, what an underwhelming performance that was from United last night. I can’t remember too many opening day of the season performances as bad as yesterday, we were second best at everything.
Which means we’ve now not beaten Palace at Old Trafford since 30th September 2017, with a draw and now two back to back losses to the south London team.
There are plenty of reasons to account for why the performance was so bad, not enough rest, no pre-season and I get all that. Today though, I’m not making excuses for them. We were poor at everything, passing, marking and horribly weak in every tackle.
Our performances will no doubt improve dramatically once we get going, unfortunately we’re off to the worst possibly start. Lets just hope we’ve got going by next Saturday afternoon at Brighton, a ground where we have played very badly twice before and lost, in May 2018 and August 2018.
Anyway, here is Phil’s opening match day podcast from straight after the game. Enjoy!
