It hasn’t been a very busy January transfer window at all for United and our temporary manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but there was at least some big news that came out of the club yesterday. With the news that Anthony Martial has signed a contract extension with United which will keep him at the club until June 2024, with the option to extend for a further year. The new deal will see the France international earn around £250,000 a week apparently and according to various new sources
Talks have been ongoing for a while now, however with all the issues with Mourinho and Woodward, Martial rejected an offer a few months back, thankfully they have now reached an agreement.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: Martial is an ‘exceptional talent’
Martial himself said: “I am loving my time at this club. From the day I joined I have been made to feel part of the United family and I have been incredibly humbled and overwhelmed by the warmth and love of our fans, who continue to amaze me with their support.”
“I would like to thank Ole and his coaching staff for their belief in me and for helping me to take my game to the next level. “This club is all about winning trophies and I am sure the next piece of silverware is not that far away.”
United are also still working on contract extensions de Gea with the club looking to extend his contract as soon as possible. As for first-team outgoings, there haven’t been any as yet, but Marouane Fellaini looks to be on his way, after passing a medical yesterday. He is now over in China looking to put pen to paper with Shandong Luneng, the transfer over there doesn’t close until 28th February though, so there was no rush to get the deal done yesterday.
United have also confirmed that back-up goalkeeper Joel Pereira has gone out on loan once again, this time to Belgium side KV Kortrijk until the end of the season as he looks to gain more experience.
Not surprising really when first-team opportunities for the 22-year-old Swiss have been very limited at Old Trafford due to the ongoing presence of David de Gea, Sergio Romero, and of course Lee Grant who came in last summer. We hope it goes well for you Joel.

“I feel like I’ve completed youth football, I’ve come up from playing for your local team all the way through to the reserves at United. I think I’m ready to be playing men’s football.”
