A disciplined performance – podcast #166

AC Milan 0 v Manchester United 1. A deserved victory for United last night inside an empty San Siro stadium in Milan. Such a shame for a match between these two great sides. United’s European away following would have loved that trip and they’d have been there in their thousands once again.

Game wise it was a cagey first-half with both sides seeming to wait for the other to make an initial mistake. United did start the slightly brighter though by getting down the wings quickly, but unfortunately there was no one on the end of the crosses that were put into the box.

Second-half was all change from the whistle as the tempo of the game instantly went up, more so with United knowing they needed to score. And within minutes substitute Pogba had given us the lead.

Chances kept coming with the more space that was available around the pitch, but overall I never felt United were never in any trouble. Maguire and especially Victor Lindelöf had excellent games and seemed to have full control throughout the 90 minutes. Roll on this afternoon’s quarter-final draw.
