Poor performance, great result – podcast #122

Brighton & Hove Albion 2 v Manchester United 3. What a great result United got today, winning the game with a last second penalty from Bruno Fernandes to seal all three points. Oh, how I’d have loved to have been in the away end to celebrate that goal like I have been for so many last minute winners in the past. Get in!

As for United’s overall performance, well it was questionable to say the least, but it was better than how we played against Palace last weekend. United though were very poor. People can bang on about match fitness and so on, but basic marking, defending, getting tight to your man, breaking up play is basic football.

For the last 20 minutes I shouted at the TV, for United to mark the back post 5 or 6 times from right sided crosses as they created chance after chance. Nothing changed though, no one got hold of anyone to say sort the marking out and finally Brighton scored. Poor. A wins a win though, yippee!

On to the next game then, which is Brighton away again in the League Cup before Spurs at home in the league next Sunday and another return of Jose Mourinho.

Anyway, here’s Phil’s with his after match podcast along with his Everton mate Dennis. Enjoy!
