A Bjelland on A Martial - podcast #117

Manchester United 1 v Copenhagen 0 (AET). An Andreas Bjelland foul on Anthony Martial inside the penalty box, in the first-half of extra-time turned out to be the decisive moment. Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take it and that sent United through to the semi-finals of the Europa League.

In what was a very hot evening in Cologne, United made things hard for themselves by starting the game very slowly and allowing Copenhagen plenty of the ball. Chance wise Copenhagen didn’t create much, but they certainly made things a lot more trickier for United and by half-time all was even.

However, if United had played like they did in the second-half, the game would have surely been done and dusted as chance after chance was created. Unfortunately Copenhagen keeper Stephan Andersen made some incredible saves along with his post to send the game to Extra-Time.
