Manchester United 1 v West Ham United 0. AET. Job done by United on a very cold evening in Manchester and we’re into the next round of the FA Cup.
It was a slow and arduous game at times last night with very little goal mouth action for either keeper, however I thought Fabiański pulled off a brilliant save from a deflected Lindelöf header in the first-half.
Other than than their wasn’t too much entertainment, although keeping track of all the substitutes kept me switched on with a total of 11 made across the 120 minutes due to new FA Cup rules this season.
I think the main frustration, especially 2nd-half, came from the lack of counter-attacks and mixing it up from United. With time after time of slowing it down from the back and allowing the whole West Ham team to get back in and get their shape before we decided to go forward and attack.
You can’t fly forward all the time, but surely every now and again rather than the same build up play that allowed West Ham to defend easily every single time. As proved when United finally broke up the play quickly, counter-attacked and with their players struggling to get back in McTominay scored after a super lay off from Rashford. It’s that easy!
