Manchester United 1 v Everton 1. Yet another Saturday 12.30pm kick off for United at Old Trafford this season, that’s the third one so far after the Leeds game on the opening day and then Aston Villa last weekend. Unfortunately it wasn’t the Leeds performance United put in, it was once again a very similar poor performance to the Villa one.
Yes, we gained a point on Saturday against Everton, but we very nearly didn’t. That is now one point picked up at Old Trafford from an available six points in the last eight days. Simply not good enough. I wouldn’t say our passing was as bad as the Villa game, but it wasn’t far from it. And once again every time we gave it away, Everton looked to break and cause us problems.
Unlike Villa, Everton seemed more content in the latter stages to waste as much time as possible, rather than going for the win. Pickford being the main culprit. That’s down to them though. It’s not something I’ve ever liked or will accept when following United away from home. Always go for the win, especially at this stage of the season.
A good point for Everton though and arguably they could and probably should have snatch all three and United would have had only themselves to blame. Overall, poor once again.
Things need to improve tactically coaching wise as soon as possible and certain players seriously need to address their decision making on the pitch. As it’s awful at times. Poor passing. Poor marking. Poor defending. The Everton goal was virtually identical to the one we gave away against Newcastle a few weeks ago. Nothing learnt!
