Shoretire breaks a Man Utd record – podcast #160

Manchester United 0 (4) v Real Sociedad 0 (0). With United’s superb performance last week in Turin in the first-leg of this tie against Sociedad, tonight was always going to be a low key affair.

We knew there would be changes and correctly so, but I was still surprised to see both Bruno Fernandes and Aaron wan Bissaka in the starting line-up. Especially with the likes of Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe on the bench.

Thankfully the above players were all swapped over at half-time along with Rashford on and Fred off. That was then followed by more substitutions later when youngsters Diallo and Shoretire got more minutes.

Shola Shoretire’s appearance broke a long-standing Manchester United record too when he came on, becoming the youngster ever player to play for the club in Europe. Beating Norman Whiteside’s long standing record which has stood since 1982 when he also played aged 17 against Valencia in the UEFA Cup.

Anyway, that’s my quick opinion, please listen to Phil’s podcast for his :
