Atalanta 2 v Manchester United 2. Yet another superb moment of sheer class from our man Cristiano Ronaldo inside the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday night. With injury-time ticking down, United’s subs Sancho, De Beek and Greenwood were all involved in the build up to Ronaldo’s wonderful volley that rescued United a point.
What more can be said about this man. The joy in our household when that hit the back of the net! Brilliant. After yet another night of frustration, particularly from a certain couple of players again. Who are currently way off the level that they should be performing that. On the other hand there was an impressive performances from Eric Bailly.
It was a tough game, United did okay, but that is not good enough. I was pleased with the substitutions, as for once players who weren’t playing well were taken off, which hasn’t always happened under Ole. However, changing the formation as soon as Varane went off was a worry as Maguire needs all the help he can get at the moment. Shaw too for that matter, but I thought it would have been easier to drop Shaw into the back three and bring Telles on.
It wasn’t to be and as soon as we reverted to a back four we seemed all over the place again. A frustrating night watching but total joy seeing Ronaldo score goals, especially in the last minute.
