Manchester United 0 v Manchester City 2. As semi-finals go, it was a tough one for United last night as City showed how good a team they still are and how hard a team they are to still play against.
City of course had a similar slow start to their season just like us, however after their self-imposed mid-winter break they now look fully refreshed and have their spark back again.
As for United, we could not get near City for the first twenty minutes as they created a few decent openings. United held in there though and steadily grew into the game, but without actually taking any control of it.
That’s not to say United could not have won the match, they could have, just by taking one of their half-chances. We played well, just not well enough to beat them and that was proved with the lack of saves Steffen made.
Unfortunately and yet again, daft decisions and very poor defending cost us after giving away free-kicks and corners that were completely avoidable. Even worse is then when we cannot defend them properly.
Gutted to lose, lessons to be learnt still. We’re on the right path going forwards but at the end of the day we lost to the better team last night. Frustrating. On to the next game United!
