Grogginess in the Mist – podcast #162

Crystal Palace 0 v Manchester United 0. Well, last night’s performance seemed like a déjà vu of the recent performances against both Sheffield United and West Brom. Except it was much worse.

In fact, it actually summed up how we’ve played since hitting the heights of going top of the Premier League in mid-January when we won away at Burnley. Since then we’ve looked sluggish, tired and lethargic in a lot of games (Southampton excluded) and it has become a worrying trend.

I do have my own thoughts and reasons on why we’ve been so poor since then and I will be writing a small piece on here over the next two days ahead of Derby Day in Manchester.

However, it certainly won’t be an excuse for last night and the sheer lack of effort, desire, willingness to run and the amount of passes we kept giving away. I was being extremely nice when I said grogginess, it was a lot more.

Frustratingly if we’d won last night and then beaten City on Sunday we would have only be 9 points behind them. Yes, that’s still a big gap to get to them of course, but with 10 games to go you never know. In the end though, we were lucky to even get a point at Selhurst Park thanks to a superb save from Dean Henderson just before the final whistle.
